GRANULAB (M) SDN. BHD. Since its acquisition by Sindora Berhad in May 2007, GranuLab had proceeded with the marketing of a medical device of synthetic bone graft (Hydroxyapatite) under the brand name GranuMaS®. This technology-driven project was the outcome of joint research efforts between SIRIM, Nuclear Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) to produce Synthetic Bone Graft Substitutes for surgical applications in normal bone procedure for Orthopaedics, ENT, dentistry, plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery. |

WHAT IS SYNTHETIC BONE GRAFT SUBSTITUTE? The number of patients suffering from disease or injury that leads to bone damage and loss are on the increase. In orthopaedic surgery bone grafting is an important part of the surgeon’s armament. Bone available from the same patient (autogenous) or from donors (allogenous) and animals (xenogenous) are limited and are not without various problems. Therefore, synthetic materials have great potential for use as a bone graft substitute, especially hydroxyapatite (HA), which has a similar chemical composition to the mineral phase of bone. IIUM, AMREC-SIRIM, UKM and USM have collaborated in an Intensified Research in Priority Areas (IRPA) research project (No. 03-01-03-0000-PR0026/05) to develop such a material. This work represents the first product developed by the group that is being commercialised. |

JOHOR CORPORATION It started with the purchase of Ladang Tebrau, its first plantation asset with an area of 1,580.72 ha.
Its first office was located at Level 2, Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim with two staff. Within a month another 7 staff were appointed and the office then moved to AIA Building at Jalan Bukit Timbalan. In 1973, the Johor Corporation’s headquarters shifted to Bangunan Aziza, Johor Bahru. The office then moved again to Sultan Ibrahim building in 1975.
